How Rogers Excavating & Septic Came to Be
Built on Experience. Driven by Problem-Solving. Focused on Doing the Job Right.
A Company Rooted in Hard Work, Precision & Midwest Values
Rogers Excavating & Septic was founded in 2012, but the story behind it stretches back much further. Owner Richard Rogers grew up watching his father— a retired heavy equipment operator— work with the kind of skill, pride, and quiet professionalism that left a mark.
Today, with almost three decades of diverse experience in hardscapes, excavation, and septic installs and repairs, Richard continues that legacy. What started as a lifelong passion for heavy equipment and a love of solving problems became a career he could enjoy. From mastering complex machinery to engineering solutions on challenging properties, he built a reputation for being the contractor who can solve the problems others walk away from.
Meet Richard Rogers — Owner, Operator & U.S. Army Veteran
Richard is well known for being honest, approachable, and exceptionally knowledgeable. A U.S. Army veteran, he brings discipline, integrity, and a strong work ethic to every job site. Clients frequently comment on how easy he is to talk to, how clearly he explains their options, and how confident they feel trusting him with their property.
One of the most impressive aspects of Richard is his problem-solving skills. Over the course of his career, he has learned many things, from design to technique, what works and what doesn’t, and brings this vast knowledge together to solve whatever challenges his clients face. He has yet to meet a problem that he couldn’t solve.
When he’s not on a dozer or excavator, you’ll likely find him on his family’s farm with his wife, their five kids, two granddaughters, and a menagerie of animals — four dogs, a cat, nine goats, and plenty of chickens. He also raises Red Angus cattle and enjoys the peace and purpose that comes from working the land.
A Passion for Solving Problems, Big or Small
Excavation and septic work aren’t just about equipment—they’re about understanding how land works, how water moves, how soil behaves, and how to create solutions that last.
Richard loves the challenge of transforming a piece of property, whether that means:
- Designing and installing a fully functional septic system
- Excavation for footings, basements, building pads & RV pads & hookups
- Repairing a failing leach field or ATU system
- Finish grading and land clearing for a homestead
- Tackling large commercial excavation needs
Many property owners call him because they’re overwhelmed and don’t know where to start. Richard takes pride in walking them through the process, explaining options, and ensuring they feel heard and supported every step of the way. Most importantly, he takes great pride in his reputation of doing the job right so they don’t face issues in the future.
